John Deere Specialty Tractors

John Deere officials say they have reaffirmed the company's commitment to the specialty tractor market with several additions to its lineup of low-profile tractors. The company, in mid-February, introduced the 5090EL, 5125ML and additional updates to the 5100ML and 5115ML tractors.

The 5090EL features a low stance and is built on the company's 5E 4-cylinder tractor platform. It is only 69 inches in height and 90 horsepower, allowing it to fit easily through small doors such as those found in poultry houses or horse barns. But it has plenty of power to pull a variety of implements, the company says. It can be equipped with either R4 industrial or R1 agricultural tires and it has a John Deere PowrReverser Transmission that allows operators to change direction without clutching.

"The built-in versatility these tractors offer make them a great choice to handle common hay and livestock jobs around the farm," says Justin Cherry, 5E product manager for John Deere.

In its premium spec 5 Series low-profile tractor realm, John Deere added the 5125ML and added additional options to the 5100ML and 5115ML.

"For tree-fruit or -nut growers, 5ML Low-Profile Tractors offer increased hitch-lift capacity and increased cooling capacity that rivals larger utility tractors," says John Doyle, the company's 5M Tractor product manager. "These improvements, combined with precise gear selection and ergonomically placed fender-mounted controls, provide an enhanced operator experience, increased productivity and industry-leading maneuverability."

The John Deere PowerTech engine delivers 125 horsepower to handle heavy implements and workloads, the company says. It has a PowerQuad transmission that previously was only available on the company's larger tractors.

New options added to the 5100ML and 5115ML include three new transmissions compatible with open center hydraulics and electrohydraulic hitch, as well as integrated technology aimed at making the 5ML tractors smarter.

"Using JDLink telematics, owner/operators can now use their computer or mobile device to remotely locate the tractor to monitor engine hours, maintenance and fuel usage," Doyle says. "This is a first for low-profile tractors."

John Deere dealers are taking orders for the 5090EL and will start doing so for the 5125ML in late February. Production of the 5090EL will start in mid-to-late April and on the 5125ML later this fall.
