McCormick launches new range of compact tractors

A new range of compact tractors for large domestic and commercial groundscare use will be launched on Stand U 10 by McCormick Tractors International Ltd at this year’s SALTEX exhibition.

Complementing the established McCormick machines for this sector – the gearbox-equipped 35hp to 54hp GM Series, heavy duty 58hp to 98hp F Series and full-size 58hp to 98hp C-Max models – the hydrostatic drive McCormick CT Series will initially comprise three engine power outputs from 28hp to 47hp.

“These machines add another useful option to the tractors we can supply to contractors, golf courses and other groundscare equipment operators,” notes Stewart Barnett, UK sales manager. “Like our existing power units, the new compacts will be supported by our nationwide network of McCormick retail sales and service dealers.”

The McCormick CT28 is the smallest model in the range. It has a 1.5-litre Mitsubishi four-cylinder diesel engine developing 28hp. It has a choice of transmissions – a 12 forward, 12 reverse speed synchro shuttle gearbox or a three-range hydrostatic transmission giving easy speed control for working at a snail’s pace with specialist equipment like an aerator; at normal working speeds for mowing and spreading; and at brisk transport speeds.

A 1.66m wheelbase and 1188kg capacity rear implement lift complemented by single-speed rear- and mid-mounted power take-off round off the essential features of the machine.

The larger McCormick CT41 and CT47 models have 2.3-litre and 2.5-litre Mitsubishi engines developing 41hp and 47hp and a longer (1.75m) wheelbase. They come only with the three-speed hydro-drive and have a more generous 1250kg linkage lift capacity.

All three McCormick CT compact tractors feature a robust four-wheel drive system using a cast front axle with tight-turning 55deg steering, together with a rear differential lock for added traction in challenging conditions.

“We’re confident these new McCormick models will meet the requirements of large domestic, commercial and contract operators of compact tractors,” says Stewart Barnett. “They complete an unrivalled line-up of power units for groundscare, golf course maintenance and highways work backed by the parts and service resources of one of the world’s leading tractor manufacturing groups.”
