Tractors become accessible to the disabled thanks to this important contribution from Landini
Landini Press ReleaseCommitment towards innovation also involves Landini in social spheres.
A leader in the field of farm machinery, the company from Fabbrico is now proposing a Landini PowerFarm 105 outfitted for use by the disabled. On show at the Eima 2005 trade fair, this machine features certain specific technical solutions such as the radio controlled multiple ascending system, which makes it easier for disabled persons in wheelchairs or who have difficulty in walking, to get into the cab.
The purpose of this project, created by Landini in collaboration with Handytech, a leading company when it comes to planning and manufacturing equipment for the disabled, was to allow disabled persons to use the tractor in full safety while making it easier to control and encouraging disabled operators to tackle the various jobs required on farms.
To achieve this target, Landini's PowerFarm 105 was equipped with a hydraulic reverse shuttle controlled by a lever on the steering wheel plus a button-operated main clutch and overdrive allowing the tractor to reach a speed of 40 kph by simply using a button. All this along with a synchronized transmission with 4 speed gears and 4 ranges.
The tractor also features a Perkins turbocharged engine that develops 105 HP at 2200 rpm allowing farm work to be carried out in all conditions, in extreme safety and with optimum power and torque reserve margins.
The power lift installed on the tractor is operated electrically with a linear actuator of the ball screw type and runs on high-strength aluminium slideways with high-precision bearing sliders.
Outfitted in this way, the tractor becomes extremely versatile. It can be simply and safely used by people who are able to walk as there is a fixed footboard that raises the person to cab floor level, and by persons in wheelchairs, thanks to a folding tip-up chair with which the disabled operator can set to the right height and then slide into the original seat. After use, the tip-up chair is closed and then simply turned and locked into a cavity in the tractor. Thanks to its compact structure, the power lift can be used for various different applications by solely adapting the linking supports. It can actually be supplied with the adaptation most able to suit the user's requirements (tip-up chair or footboard). When it comes to actually driving the tractor, Landini's PowerFarm 105 has been fitted with a new generation type of circular electronic throttle installed under the steering wheel (HT-ACC ST). It is complete with electronic control unit that obtains six different adjustment curves, memory to record any faults and automatic annulling function if the tractor is braked. Lastly, the braking system has also be adapted to suit the tractor as it is controlled by independent levers.
