Proven performance in the field leads to customer loyalty at the dealership as evidenced by the upcoming production highlight for the Case IH MagnumTM tractor line. The 100,000th Magnum will roll off the line at CNH Racine Manufacturing Operations later this year.

To celebrate, select dealers and customers will be eligible for free demo time in the latest Case IH MX Series Magnum models. After the demos are complete, the specially designated and decaled units will be available for purchase.

Drew Fletcher, product specialist for Case IH tractors, says the company is pleased to be able to honor not only the Magnum line, but also the people that have showcased its workhorse performance in the field.

"We have loyal customers that purchased an original 7100 Series Magnum when it came out in 1987, an 8900 Series tractor introduced in 1997 and a tractor from the most recent MX Series Magnum line," Fletcher says. "Some customers are still running all three. We anticipate that our program to celebrate our 100,000 milestone will get a good number of Case IH customers and prospects behind the wheel of the tractors."

Focus on power A tractor family cannot continue 16 years without significant improvements, and the latest models in the Case IH MX Series Magnum line up are no exception, Fletcher notes. Desire for increased power and efficiency constantly top the list of customer demands.

In 1987, the top rated horsepower of the 7100 Series Magnum was 215 PTO hp. In 2003 the top horsepower for the MX285 Magnum tractor is up to 240 PTO hp.

"Our customers help us design equipment that fits their needs, and obviously, the amount of ground being worked by individual operators and new tillage practices require more horsepower today to get the work done," Fletcher says.

Increased horsepower doesn’t necessarily translate to higher fuel usage. New designs and new technologies, including electronic engine management systems, have advanced engine efficiency.

"We’ve been able to get a bump of up to 10 horsepower on our current models due to updated ISO-mounted engines that deliver 46 percent torque rise at 2,000 rpm," Fletcher says. "Lower operating rpms while providing rated horsepower levels lead to greater fuel efficiency. We’re constantly looking for ways to convert even more of the energy expended into production tasks."

Customers also are demanding lighter equipment footprints and reduced compaction.

"Producers are guarding against compaction, yet they want to maintain traction and avoid ridging," he notes. "The industry’s first factory available front duals introduced on the MX Series Magnum in 1998 have been a real winner."

The MX285 is 3,100 pounds heavier than the 7150 Magnum, but its footprint is eight percent lighter due to improved tires and setup.

"We all take a lot of pride in being able to deliver 100,000 Case IH Magnum tractors. It’s a tribute to our customers, our dealers and our employees," Fletcher says. "We will continue to work with our dealers and customers to advance our flagship Case IH Magnum line, putting us in position in another few years to celebrate the next 100,000 units."
