John Deere 5003 series tractors designed with economy in mind
Deere & Company -Looking for an economical work and loader tractor versatile enough for barnyard or commercial site applications? John Deere introduces the new 5103, 5203, and 5303 tractors (44-, 53-, and 64- engine horsepower respectively) that are built tough, but priced with value in mind.
"The new tractors feature 3-cylinder, 2.9 Liter John Deere PowerTech engines," says Mike Alvin, product manager, Augusta factory. "The engines are naturally aspirated for the 5103 and 5203, and turbocharged for the 5303. These fuel-efficient engines lead the industry in quality and durability, and will provide years of service."
The transmission offers 9 forward and 3 reverse speeds. It is controlled by 2 shift levers conveniently located on the platform; the right hand lever for 3 forward speeds and 1 reverse, and a left hand lever for 3 ranges A, B, and C (low, mid, and high range, respectively). Constant mesh, helical gears assure quiet operation and excellent reliability. A fully enclosed rigid shift linkage provides smooth, crisp shifts.
A positive park pawl on the transmission eliminates the need for a handbrake and a neutral start switch only allows the engine to start when the tractor is in park or neutral. A pressure-lubricated top shaft provides excellent durability.
"Outstanding hydraulic and loader performance is achieved with a tandem-gear hydraulic pump that provides excellent capacity and fast implement response time," says Alvin. "The hydraulics feature 18.2 gpm with a total of 2,828 psi. The tractors can be equipped with economical spool-type selective control valves, and up to two rear SCVs can be field installed."
The straddle-mount operator station is designed to give the operator improved visibility and comfort. The dash features easy-to-read analog tachometer, temperature, and fuel gauges. A multi-function warning light display allows for easy operator visibility.
The new John Deere 510 Loader is fully compatible with the 5003 tractors and makes for a very economical loader/tractor combination. Frontier Equipment will also supply a full line of implements to support the new tractors.
The 5003 Series Tractors will be available January 2003. For more information, visit your local John Deere dealer or go online to www.JohnDeereAg.com.
