New John Deere 5000 Twenty Series Tractors
Deere & Company -In the 5000 Twenty Series tractors, John Deere delivers the quality of the 5000 Ten Series tractors with a long list of upgrades aimed at higher productivity, operator comfort and ease of use. Addressing customer needs, John Deere offers operators a choice of three platforms -- a basic straddle mount; an isolated flat platform; and a quieter, roomier, flat platform cab with improved hydraulics -- in the 5220, 5320, 5420 and 5520 models.
The 5000 Twenty Series features a fully integrated and isolated cab. The flat platform design seals and quiets the operator station and makes for increased ease of entry and egress. It also has increased legroom. A raised header bar (patent pending) and chassis-mounted fuel tank significantly increase both loader and rear visibility. A 27-gallon fuel capacity allows operators to work longer, maximizing productivity. Further improving on operator comfort, this series of tractors includes a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, low-effort PTO engagement and right-side transmission controls.
The John Deere PowerTech 3-cylinder diesel engine produces high torque and exceptional power in the 45-hp 5220 model and the 55-hp 5320 model. The 65-hp 5420 and the 75-hp 5520 models have a John Deere PowerTech® 4-cylinder engine. All models are offered in either 2WD or MFWD. Convenient and easy-to-use, right-side controls are standard for all transmission options. The collar shift transmission has nine forward and three reverse speeds. An optional SyncShuttleTM transmission can be added to allow smooth synchronized shifting. Additionally, operators can opt for the PowrReverserTM that permits clutchless direction changes.
An optional mid-mount hydraulic valve with joystick control allows for fast attachment and detachment of a loader, while dual hydraulic pumps provide a separate, constant flow of oil. New precision valves have been added and greatly decrease hydraulic implement leak-down. The 5000 Twenty Series tractors are also equipped with a fully independent PTO and lateral float capability that allows attachments to closely follow the ground contour and continue to run when the clutch is depressed so efficiency is maximized. They also can be outfitted with the 540/540E PTO option that allows light-duty tools to run in economy mode for fuel savings up to 25 percent.
For increased operator safety, these tractors have a safety system that prevents starting when the PTO is engaged or the transmission is in gear. Additional safety features include a PTO engagement alarm, roll-over protection system and retractable seatbelt.
