Wheel Horse entered the snowmobile business in 1969 with the purchase of Sno-Flite from C.E. Erickson. A disappointing 1970 sales season left over one-third of the new sleds unsold. Wheel Horse did not build 1971 models and closed the Iowa factory. A limited range of new snowmobiles were built for the 1972 model year, the final production run. In 1976, Wheel Horse sold all remaining parts inventory to Parts Unlimited in Edgerton, Wisconsin.
