Homelite is a manufacturer of outdoor power equipment, notably chainsaws, based in the United States. Founded in 1921, Homelite began manufacturing chainsaws in 1949 and expanded to a full line out power equipment. Homelite began selling re-branded lawn mowers in 1964. Allis-Chalmers (later, Simplicity) supplied the majority of Homelite lawn tractors until Homelite was merged with Jacobsen in 1978. John Deere purchased Homelite-Jacobsen in 1994 which ended the Homelite brand on lawn tractors. Homelite was sold to Chinese conglomerate Techtronic in 2001.
