The J.I. Case company began building farm machinery in 1842. To enter the lawn and garden tractor market, the company purchased Colt Manufacturing in 1964. The tractors were manufactured in Winneconne, Wisconsin. Case manufactured their lawn equipment in Winneconne until 1983, when Case's Outdoor Power Equipment Division was told to Ingersoll Equipment.
